# What is Inference?

To understand Cerebro, it is important to understand what inference means.

An AI model is trained beforehand.

Inference happens when that trained model is used.

For example:

You send a request to an AI model asking it to analyse a document.

The model processes your request and generates a response.

That process is inference.

Inference happens whenever an AI system performs a task, including:

* Answering questions
* Writing code
* Analysing data
* Generating images
* Processing documents
* Generating speech
* Running AI agents
* Performing automated tasks
* Making decisions based on data

Training creates the model.

Inference puts the model to work.

Cerebro is focused on the economic layer surrounding that usage.
